The Kirkland-Redmond branch of AAUW sponsors a Nonfiction Book Club that meets monthly September through June. Members meet in August to select the books for the coming year. Each member recommends one book and then a vote is taken to determine the 10 selections. Members are expected to have read a book before recommending it. As much as possible the person recommending the book will be the facilitator for the discussion of that book.
The group has grown so that we now have two meeting times each month. One group meets on the third Friday of the month at 1:15 pm. The other group meets on the second Thursday at 7:00 pm. While members designate which of the two groups they will regularly attend it is possible to attend the alternate meeting as long as the hostess can accommodate the extra person.
The non fiction book club started in 2007. The first book was Diamond’s Guns, Germs and Steel.
