The Branch is incorporated as the Kirkland-Redmond (WA) Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and is a nonprofit corporation.  Any person who meets the membership criterion for the AAUW organization and pays branch dues can become a member. The membership criterion is holding a two-year or four-year degree from an accredited institution.  All members are entitled to vote, hold office, and participate in the branch activities and programs and to receive the publications distributed by the branch.  The branch holds at least five general membership meetings each year, in addition to numerous interest group meetings and special events.  The time and place of the general meetings is determined by the Board of Directors and usually occur on Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings.

The affairs of the branch are administered by a Board of Directors consisting of three elected officers and four appointed officers who meet at least four times a year.  The elected officers are President, Vice President/Corporate Secretary, and Finance Vice President.  The remaining four Board members are appointed by the President.  Two members can share an office.  All members are welcome to attend Board meetings but only the seven elected and appointed officers are entitled to a vote.  The board can also formulate programs and establish committees and activities.
